Day One: I Ride for Nick’s Eyes
6:30 AM could’t come soon enough for me on the morning on October 27, 2010. I had arranged with my friend Andy Earl the night before to get up early in order to do some early season snowboarding at Alta Ski Resort, and I was having difficulty sleeping because of the anticipation. The picture of Elijah Whitney above is a perfect indicator of what I was feeling in my heart all night as I tried to quiet my thoughts and relax my body. Not only did we get a preseason storm, but we got a blower preseason storm, dropping 2 1/2 feet of fresh in the upper elevations. We climbed up above 10,000 feet and had epic powder that made me feel like it was mid February and that the summer had never happened. Somehow I managed to be grumpy on this first day of the season, but I managed to get over it and have an amazing time. I was feeling particularly winded during the hike, which, I think, was due to being sick last week following my return from Israel. Check a few of the pictures and watch the video and get stoked for the upcoming season, because over here at Crossroad Studios, we are absolutely amping.
One of the primary things that we’re promoting today is Nick Moore. He’s the team manager for Demon, and has recently been diagnosed with an eye disease, and the surgery isn’t covered by his insurance. We are helping Nick raise the money for his eye surgery so we can prevent him from going blind. He’s a super talented designer and needs his eyes. Head over to http://www.demondirt.com and check out how to donate to the cause. Check out the video share it with your friends. Special thanks to Mike Amezcua for helping out with some of the filming. Shot on Canon 5D Mark II, 7D, and GoPro HD Hero cameras0.
