Wasatch: The Official Production Podcast started as a classroom project in 2008. Parker Alec Cross was taking an authoring for digital devices course at Utah Valley University and threw together a little sample video to fulfill the requirements of the course. That video can be seen by clicking here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAU-lhxa7hY. Different local sponsors started expressing interest until finally Parker decided to fully go for it, and a full-blown (albeit inexperienced) production was begun. The project was initially intended to be a full-length documentary spreading awareness about the influence that action sports, particularly skiing, snowboarding, and skateboarding, have on the culture of the Wasatch Front areas of Utah.
It’s really fascinating how a project can change over the course of two seasons of shooting, and what began as a sort-of behind-the-scenes concept has transitioned into a viral media sensation that continues to gain speed and popularity throughout the world. With o
ver 300,000 downloads, and 1500 active subscribers, the podcast is delivering free adventure content to a worldwide audience.
Season Three is poised to take the momentum that was generated by Season Two, and bring it to the highest summits in the Wasatch Mountains. A growing hit-list of summits, couliors, chutes, and faces beckon to be conquered in stunning HD video quality, and Crossroad Studios is getting after it.
